Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Women and Children’s Unit is proud to work in collaboration with a professional medical staff of obstetricians and gynecologists.
In coordination with your physician, our staff will assist you with everything from selecting pain relief methods to choosing to have your baby in the room with you after delivery. Anesthesia team members are available 24 hours a day to provide your prescribed pain relief services.
After giving birth, mothers and their newborns are cared for by experienced nursing staff in conjunction with local pediatricians. Each experienced labor and delivery nurse is certified in fetal monitoring by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses.
Nursery
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital offers a Level II nursery. The Level II nursery provides care for babies born at 34 weeks gestation or greater and those who need special monitoring or extra care after birth. Infants will be cared for by our nursery staff of registered nurses who are specially trained in Level II care. Should your infant require the highest level of neonatal care, he or she will receive care in Willow Creek Women’s Hospital’s Level III A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Baby-Friendly Hospital
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital earned the international Baby-Friendly designation. This certification is from the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative, a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund. The initiative encourages and recognizes hospitals and birthing centers that offer the highest level of care for breastfeeding mothers and their babies.
Silver Safe Sleep Leader
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital is recognized by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program as a “Silver Safe Sleep Leader” for their commitment to best practices and education on infant safe sleep. They are one of the first hospitals in Arkansas to receive the title.
The National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program was created by Cribs for Kids®, a Pittsburgh-based organization dedicated to preventing infant, sleep-related deaths due to accidental suffocation. In addition to being Cribs for Kids® partners, SSRH was recognized for following the safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, and providing training programs for parents, staff and the community.
March of Dimes
The March of Dimes recognized Siloam Springs Regional Hospital for the Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait initiative. We have reduced the number of elective inductions and cesarean deliveries, unless medically necessary, performed before 39 completed weeks of pregnancy to give babies a healthy start in life.
The March of Dimes states that the last weeks of pregnancy are important because babies aren’t just putting on weight. They are undergoing important development of the brain, lungs and other vital organs. The “Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait” campaign urges women to wait for labor to begin on its own if their pregnancy is healthy, rather than scheduling delivery before 39 weeks.
