Northwest Health helps older adults improve the quality of their lives by providing a range of specialized services just for them. Our care includes preventive, diagnostic and treatment services to help seniors stay healthy and happy. Our doctors focus on preventive care and early detection to provide older adults with the highest quality of life possible.
Geriatric ER
Northwest Health offers geriatric emergency departments at Northwest Medical Center – Bentonville and Northwest Medical Center – Springdale. Our staff has been specially trained and accredited to treat geriatric patients and the ERs in Bentonville and Springdale have been built with distinct features and equipment to help in the diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of health issues specific to seniors. Our senior health services draw from a multidisciplinary team of doctors and health professionals to provide quality care that meets the needs of older adults, including:
There are also several gerontologists (physicians who specialize in treating seniors) on our medical staff. You can find them by visiting our Find-A-Doctor directory and searching for “geriatric medicine.”
New patient appointments with one of Northwest Physicians’ affiliated gerontologists are approximately two hours and consist of the following:
- 30 minutes with a nurse who does a geriatric functional assessment screening
- 45 minutes to an hour with the physician
- During a follow-up appointment, each patient gets 30 minutes with the physician
