At Northwest Health, we understand how challenging weight loss can be. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than one third of American adults are morbidly obese, increasing their risk for heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers, and keeping them from an active and happy life.
We also know that it’s never too late to take control. Our dedicated bariatric programs offer proven solutions and compassionate support when traditional options haven’t worked. Like other men and women we have helped, we are here to help you enjoy your own life-changing success.
The weight loss surgery programs at Northwest Medical Center – Springdale and Northwest Health Physicians’ Specialty Hospital are accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to provide patients in Northwest Arkansas with high-quality surgical care and post-operative support. Northwest Medical Center - Springdale is now a Blue Distinction Center of Excellence for Bariatrics. Our multidisciplinary programs aim to improve patient outcomes and long-term success through preoperative and postoperative care designed specifically for the needs of severely obese patients.

Weight loss surgery offers new hope
Meet Tysha Williams, R.N., Bariatric Program Director
A registered nurse, Tysha Williams started working for Northwest Health at Physicians' Specialty Hospital, transferring to Northwest Medical Center - Springdale when she was promoted to bariatric program director in 2018. Tysha chose to work full-time with bariatric surgery patients because of her earlier experiences. She said that when she worked as a nurse on the post-operative unit, she took care of bariatric patients and really enjoyed it. Bariatric surgery is the start of a new, exciting journey for our patients and she loves getting to be a part of that. Tysha has worked with bariatric patients for the past 10 years and she absolutely loves being a part of such a life-changing event in the lives of each one of the patients.
