One of the Rare Ones

Doctor’s experience, compassionate care puts patient on path to recovery
Sometimes taking the time to listen makes all the difference. After a visit with gynecologist Lisa Waterman, D.O., at Willow Creek Women’s Clinic – GYN Willow Creek Drive, Danielle Muhammed’s life of disruptive and painful health issues was transformed. Today, she is on a path of healing and recovery.
The journey started in February 2025 after Muhammed had her baby. She was dealing with ongoing issues of prolonged uterine bleeding that didn’t improve with treatment.
“It was taking a real toll on my daily life, and I knew I needed to explore more permanent solutions,” Muhammed said. “I had seen several providers before, but I often felt like my concerns were being dismissed or brushed aside – it was frustrating and disheartening.”
That’s when Muhammed learned about Dr. Waterman through another provider. She did her research, reading about the doctor’s background and online reviews.
“Everything I read made me feel confident in choosing her,” Muhammed said. “Everyone seemed to speak very highly of Dr. Waterman.”
Struggling with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and infertility throughout her life, Muhammed said Dr. Waterman was the first physician who took the initiative to run a metabolic panel to check for insulin resistance. No one had suggested it before.
“My appointment with Dr. Waterman felt more like a conversation than a typical doctor’s visit,” she said. “She really listened, took her time, and made the whole experience feel comfortable and respectful – not rushed or clinical. She explained things in a way that was easy to understand and helped me feel at ease, even when facing a big procedure.”
At her appointment, Muhammed learned she would have a biopsy. Dr. Waterman offered medication ahead of the procedure to make the experience more comfortable which was another first for Muhammed.
“That level of thoughtfulness and attention to detail really stood out,” she said.
That same attention to detail was also reflected in the team at Willow Creek Women’s Clinic – GYN Willow Creek Drive.
“Every person I’ve encountered at her office has been extremely friendly, understanding and helpful,” Muhammed said.
After her initial appointment and, later, a biopsy, it was recommended Muhammed have surgery.
“Dr. Waterman was kind, knowledgeable and very thorough,” she said. “She took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure I understood all of my options.”
Muhammed noted the compassionate care that she received from the team at Northwest Medical Center – Willow Creek Women’s Hospital and how she was impressed with the entire stay.
“They made sure I wasn’t in pain afterward, and that was a big deal to me,” she said.
Several weeks after her surgery, Muhammed is on a path to reclaim her quality of life.
“My main focus is on healing and recovery,” she said. “From there, I’m hoping to feel more like myself again and get back to my usual routines with fewer health disruptions.”
And she’s thankful that she was able to find a physician that made her feel like her concerns mattered.
“It’s hard to find a provider you feel truly comfortable with,” Muhammed said. “She’s definitely one of those rare ones.”
