Dr. Brannan joined UAMS Health Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in July 2020 following his retirement from the United States Air Force and brings with him almost 15 years of military orthopedic surgery experience.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is among the most common nerve disorders experienced today, impacting between 4-10 million Americans, according to Dr. Brannan, but it is easily treatable. Middle-aged to older individuals are more likely to develop the syndrome than younger people, and women are three times more likely to have it then men. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 3.1% of employed adults aged 18–64 years had carpal tunnel syndrome in the past 12 months.
