Five Nurses Receive Northwest Health’s Nursing Excellence Award

Northwest Health today announced that five nurses have been selected to receive its Nursing Excellence Award.
This peer-nominated award, created in honor of 2020 being the “Year of the Nurse,” and in recognition of the critical role nurses have played in treating patients throughout the COVID pandemic, was open to qualifying RNs and LPNs working in a direct patient care position who consistently demonstrate characteristics synonymous with nursing excellence.
The following were chosen for outstanding contributions to their hospitals:
- Christy Amos, RN, Siloam Springs Regional Hospital – Christy has received the Daisy Award three different times recognizing her for outstanding patient care. She’s known for offering encouraging words and treating her patients with a gentle and kind demeanor. Christy also volunteered to care for COVID patients picking up extra shifts and adjusting her schedule to ensure she could provide assistance when needed.
- Suzanne Ingram, RN, Northwest Health Physicians’ Specialty Hospital – Suzanne provides compassionate care to our patients sharing her kind and caring attitude with everyone that enters through the doors. Her positivity is contagious and she serves as an inspiration to her team members. Suzanne elevates the patient experience by going the extra mile to ensure they are well taken care of. Her work week involves many roles in many areas of the hospital because of her desire to be helpful to her co-workers.
- Kim Peterson, RN, Northwest Medical Center – Springdale – Kim's confident and expert presentation as a critical care nurse is often recognized by peers, patients, and patient families for her teamwork and quality of overall care delivery. She also is an adjunct nursing professor at John Brown University. Kim models compassionate care in her everyday interactions in the ICU treating cardiovascular, neurological and COVID patients. She never falters in her ability to empathize with patients and their families advocating for their care.
- Angie Pruitt, RN, NMC – Willow Creek Women’s Hospital – Angie’s leadership and her desire to make the hospital her very best shows in the care she delivers to every patient and family member under her care. She exhibits compassion and empathy looking for extra things she can do to help her patients feel supported and treats them like her own family. Angie’s passion for women’s wellness during and after pregnancy led her to design the Women’s Fitness Program at Willow Creek and open the Women’s Fitness Studio. She has received the employee of the month, employee of the year awards and also several Daisy Award nominations.
- Kyle Smith, RN, Northwest Medical Center – Bentonville – Kyle was chosen for this award because he provides consistent, compassionate care with a focus on healing not only a person’s illness or injury, but also keeping his patients’ spirits up. We are truly fortunate to have someone on our team that is so committed to ensuring everyone he helps receives the best care possible. Kyle shares his positive attitude with his co-workers and they know he is there when they need him.

In addition to receiving the Nursing Excellence Award itself, recipients received a cash prize and quintessential book on nursing, written by Florence Nightingale in 1859, that remains relevant to today’s modern nursing attitudes and skills.
