About the Doctor
BiographyRobert Petrino, M.D., is a board-certified general surgeon serving in Northwest Arkansas for more than three decades. He provides general, laparoscopic and trauma surgery as well as endoscopies and colonoscopies.
Dr. Petrino graduated from and completed his residency with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he was selected to serve as chief resident. He earned his bachelor’s in psychology from Wake Forest University as well as a master’s in natural sciences from the University of Arkansas. In 2019, Dr. Petrino was chosen as Community Preceptor of the Year by the residents at UAMS Northwest Family Medicine Residency. Dr. Petrino supervises residents during four-week surgical rotations as well as helping residents on service at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale. Dr. Petrino was chosen for his dedication and willingness to teach.
Since joining the medical staff of Northwest Medical Center - Springdale, Dr. Petrino has given his time and knowledge to serve in numerous leadership positions, including as chief of staff for five years, chief of surgery for seven years, and on the board of trustees for ten years. He currently serves as medical director for the wound care and hyperbaric center at Northwest Medical Center - Springdale. He previously served as medical director of inpatient rehabilitation, as physician advisor for case management, and as head of the peer review committee.
He has been a fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1985. He is a clinical professor of surgery for the UAMS Family Practice Program and a participating educator for medical students in the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.
