Biography
Jan Furniss, M.D., is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist serving as an OB/GYN hospitalist with Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville. She has more than 20 years of experience, with specialized training in minimally invasive and robot-assisted gynecologic surgery. She earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, then completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Areas of specialization include obstetrical care (both high risk and low intervention), vaginal delivery, VBAC and cesarean section; minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (including robot-assisted procedures like hysterectomy, myomectomy, endometrioses resection); evaluation and treatment of endometriosis, fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding and pelvic pain; evaluation and treatment of infertility and recurrent miscarriages; contraception and family planning; cancer screening including STD testing; and genetic testing.
She holds or has held memberships in various professional organizations, including American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Society of Robotic Surgery, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons and Arkansas Medical Society.
