Sleep Center
Proper rest is essential to every facet of your life. From simply feeling "too sleepy" to participate in activities, to being a danger to yourself and others at work or at the wheel, sleep disorders can be very serious.
The medical community continues to better understand the importance of proper rest and how to identify and treat conditions that prevent proper sleep. Fortunately all that's required in most cases is a sleep study...and a well-qualified staff to evaluate it. That's where we come in.
Sleep Disorders Center
The Sleep Disorders Center provides a comprehensive program for testing and treating patients who experience problems with sleeping or staying awake. Proper diagnosis is important. There are a number of very effective treatments, some as simple as weight loss or modifying your sleep position. Other treatments may involve dental appliances, medication or surgery. To be tested at the Sleep Disorders Center, you must have a referral from your physician.
What is a Sleep Study?
Having a sleep study is not much more complicated than falling asleep. Our sleep rooms are quiet, comfortable rooms that are free of distractions to promote sleep. You can bring your own pajamas and slippers to help you relax during your sleep study.
Although you'll be quite comfortable, you will be connected to monitoring equipment, consisting of a few small wires attached on your head, face, chest and legs.
Our staff of certified respiratory therapists and board-registered sleep technicians (polysomnographic technologists) will record and monitor your brain activity, breathing, heart rate and muscle activity.
All this information is fed into our special "Sandman" computer where it is recorded and summary reports can be generated for physicians to review.
We'll wake you after eight hours and a few complete cycles have been recorded.
