A Guide to Your Child's Good Health
The Healthy Child You want what's best for your child, whether that's good nutrition, effective discipline or a breadth of life opportunities.
Children and Healthcare Knowing what to do when your child gets sick can make getting through the illness a little less stressful for both of you.
Emotions and Behavior Emotional and intellectual growth are just as important in child development as physical growth.
Age-Specific Concerns Newborn? Toddler? Teen? Here's where to find answers to questions you have about the particular stage your child is going through. |
When your child is hospitalized, your whole family is affected. That's why family centered care is first and foremost at Northwest Health. We encourage you to stay with your child during medical procedures and overnight visits. Each patient room is outfitted with a hideaway bed to accommodate a parent.
The Pediatric Unit at Northwest Medical Center - Springdale is here to serve the children and youth of our community. This unit is designed to care for all pediatric patients from newborns to age eighteen.
Comprehensive Care
Most of our Registered Nurses have over 10 years experience in pediatric care. A full spectrum of programs designed for children is offered at our Springdale and Bentonville campuses. As part of our commitment to administering the best care possible, all pediatric nurses are required to undergo additional training. In addition, Northwest Medical Center - Springdale boasts Northwest Arkansas' only pediatric surgeon, who performs pediatric outpatient procedures as well as those involving critical conditions in newborns and premature babies.
Special Care for Special Patients
Our staff is fully versed in conditions ranging from respiratory disorders to congenital heart conditions, and knows what it takes to comfort little ones in an unfamiliar hospital environment. Unlike other parts of the hospital, procedures are administered in treatment rooms apart from your child's hospital room, so your child experiences less fear or anxiety about the hospital room or bed. Every effort is made to help your child feel more at ease from secure, staff-monitored playrooms to meals specially tailored to appeal to your child's preferences.
