The full-time oncology staff at Northwest Medical Center - Springdale is dedicated to helping individuals and families through all phases of their experience with cancer. We provide an atmosphere of loving support. We hope that we will be able to help you, as you deal with cancer in your life.
At the Pat & Willard Walker Cancer Unit at Northwest Medical Center - Springdale, we use Baxter's finest equipment to efficiently infuse medications to our patients. This includes:
- Baxter's Colleague Cx Volumetric Infusion pumps
- Baxter's PCAII pumps
- Baxter's CLEARLINK tubing system.
Our pumps are maintained by Baxter Certified technicials to provide our patients with the latest in IV medication infusion. We also use the Port-a-Cath Gripper for patients with permanent ports.
If medications cannot be administered at the clinic, The Pat & Willard Walker Cancer Unit provides outpatient beds to patients who receive chemotherapy, blood products, or other medications.
Keeping Our Patients Educated
We offer educational materials regarding their condition using publications from the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and The American Cancer Society. Patients and their families will receive an oncology resource manual In Touch with Your Cancer Treatment, published by Northwest Health System, which provides information on cancer, nutrition, and side effects of management.
Northwest Medical Center - Springdale also works closely with NWA Circle of Life Hospice. New facilities in Springdale allow a place for patients and family to receive care and suppport in the final phase of terminal disease. This program allows patients to maintain control over their care while also providing emotional and physical support to family. The Pat & Willard Walker Cancer Unit case managers work closely with families and patients to make arrangements with Circle of Life Hospice.
