CeVO2
In October 2006, Northwest Medical Center – Bentonville became the first hospital in the United States to insert a ScVO2 probe. The procedure was performed by pulmonologist Dr. Edward L. Jackson.
The CeVO2 is a device for continuous monitoring of central venous oxygen saturation (ScvO2). The CeVO2 Technology transmits light of various wavelengths through fiber optics into the vessel and analyzes the reflected light. For that purpose, a specifically designed fiber optic probe is inserted into the distal lumen of an already placed standard central venous catheter.
The continuous monitoring of central venous oxygen saturation provides early, fast reacting and easy to obtain information about the balance between oxygen supply and demand. (Source: Pulsion Medical Systems)
The CeVO2 allows more proficient and timely treatment of septic patients. This is a vital tool in the treatment of sepsis and the nationwide 100,000 Lives Campaign.
