Northwest Medical Center - Bentonville Volunteer Services

For many years, the Northwest Medical Center - Bentonville Auxiliary has not only provided generous material support through its volunteer and fundraising efforts, but has also delivered moral support to patients, their families and our own hospital staff. The Auxiliary, serving in all areas of the hospital, exemplifies the volunteer spirit at this finest. By helping others, we help ourselves. Our volunteers are a group of caring, devoted men and women whyo provide cheerful service to our patients, visitors and staff. Many opportunities to serve are available.

Grant Guidelines

Mission
Northwest Medical Center Auxiliary was established in 1952 to support the Springdale Memorial Hospital, now Northwest Medical Center-Springdale. The Auxiliary’s mission includes providing volunteer services to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale and promoting the health and well-being of communities in Benton and Washington counties.  Auxiliary programs, services, and events include: 

  • Annual Fall Craft Show at the Jones Center
  • Thrift Shop in Springdale located at 400 Park Street in Springdale
  • Gift Shop at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale
  • Volunteer Services at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale
  • Medical Professional Scholarship Program for employees and their families at Northwest Medical Center-Springdale
  • Grant awards to local nonprofit organizations
  • Contributions to Northwest Medical Center-Springdale’s indigent pharmaceutical program 
  • Operational support for Northwest Medical Center-Springdale’s Guest House

Areas of Interest
The Auxiliary provides financial support to a wide range of nonprofit organizations. Their primary interests are:

  • Health Education – all levels of education, with a focus on preventing disease and promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Community Health and Wellness – services that promote the independence of residents and provide access to healthcare services.
  • Human Services – support services to vulnerable populations, with a special focus on children and families.

Types of Funding
The Auxiliary accepts requests from nonprofit organizations in Benton and Washington counties for new programs, special projects, emergency relief, and education. They do not accept requests for endowment development or for staff salaries. The grant amounts vary year to year, but the Auxiliary generally awards grants ranging from $5,000 - $20,000.

Application Procedures
While most awards are made through a request for proposal process generated by the Northwest Medical Center-Springdale Auxiliary, the Auxiliary does consider unsolicited requests.  If you have not received an invitation to apply, but have reviewed these guidelines and believe your organization’s program fits, you may submit a proposal. 

Please provide the following information:

  • Agency Name
  • Agency Purpose
  • Whether or not you’ve ever received Auxiliary funding
  • Amount Being Requested
  • Grant Purpose
  • Population to be Served by the Grant
  • Itemized Grant Budget (including other expected funding sources)
  • Timeline for Your Program/Project
  • Grant Outcomes, and
  • List of Board of Directors

If proof of your nonprofit status and a copy of your 501(c)(3) letter is not on file with the Northwest Medical Center–Springdale Auxiliary, you will need to include a copy with your grant proposal.

Restrictions
Applications are not accepted from individuals, or for political or sectarian religious purposes.

Application Review Process
Applications may be submitted any time; however, the members of the grant review committee generally meet each Fall. Proposals submitted by mid-September will be considered for funding. Questions may be directed to Lesa Tucker at (479) 757-4106 or ltucker@nw-health.com.
