Caren Lyne, R.N., B.S.N., is a veteran nursing administrator for Northwest Health System and now serves as Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Community Cares Champion at Northwest Medical Center - Springdale.
Ms. Lyne joined Northwest Health System in 1994, when she was recruited from California as a cardiac nurse manager. She later was promoted to serve as the Executive Director of Cardiac Services. Since then she has served in a variety of capacities, most recently Director of Patient Care Services, before agreeing to serve as interim CNO.
As CNO, Ms. Lyne is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s entire nursing staff and nursing processes. Northwest Medical Center – Springdale is licensed for 222 acute-care beds and has a nursing staff of about 350 employees.

More than 30 years in nursing
Before moving to Arkansas to join Northwest Health System 14 years ago, Ms. Lyne held a variety of nursing posts in California, in the first half of a career that so far has spanned more than 30 years. During her career, Ms. Lyne has been involved in many facets of nursing practice, including critical care management, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac outreach, diabetes management, asthma treatment, research, education, staff development, policy and procedure development, clinical outcomes management, performance improvement, infection control and direct patient care in several critical-care settings (including care for trauma, pediatrics, general surgery, cardiac surgery, coronary care and post-anesthesia patients).
Ms. Lyne earned an associate degree in Nursing from Pasadena City College at Pasadena, Calif., and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from California State University at Dominguez Hills, Calif. In addition, she formerly held the Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification and currently holds the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
Her awards and honors include:
· Clinical Director of the Year 2007 at Northwest Medical Center – Springdale.
· Nurse Manager of the Year 1994 at Northwest Medical Center – Springdale.
